Emergency Response to Disaster in Japan

In this time of crisis for our sisters and brothers in Japan, and their families around world, we stand in solidarity as we know that we truly are one human family. Please join OJP in prayer for the repose of the dead, for swift emergency aid to those who are suffering, and for long term support throughout the process of rebuilding that lies ahead. You can join us in a Prayer for Japan by clicking here, as well as find petitions that can be used in Sunday and Daily Liturgies.

Parishes across the Catholic Diocese of Richmond will also be taking up second collections over the next several weeks to support relief efforts in Japan in the wake of the massive Earthquake and Tsunami which has caused tremendous human suffering which will be collected centrally by the Diocese.

The Diocese is sending its donations to Catholic Relief Services, the international development and relief agency of the Catholic Church in the United States, which will in turn support its partner organizations providing humanitarian assistance in Japan. Donations can be made at Catholic Parishes throughout the Diocese that are taking second collections, or directly to Catholic Relief Services. You can donate now by clicking here.

We ask the Catholic Community in the Diocese of Richmond and beyond to recommit to Global Solidarity in this time of crisis. Where there is suffering, we must be ready and willing to respond with the Love that our God has shown us.

In Solidarity,

Jay Brown
Director, OJP
